You can soon properly 'Pre-Order' a OnePlus One smartphone without the need for an 'Invite' OnePlus

Chinese smartphone brand OnePlus has finally announced that proper pre-orders for its most expected OnePlus One budget smartphone will open in October this year, without the need for an invite.

The catch here is, you will have to book your smartphone earlier than others to get it on time and avoid late shipments.

The reason for this apparent 'early bird pre-ordering' is because OnePlus does not intent to take, what it terms 'inventory risk'.

"Our current goals are finding the right product-market fit and user acquisition. To do so, we made the risky move to forego hardware margins. In this scenario, we do not have the ability to absorb miscalculations in inventory. Any excess inventory will lead to a direct loss, and a larger miscalculation means we need to close our doors", states OnePlus, in an official blog post.

The company also states that potential buyers of its OnePlus One smartphone will get only a limited ordering window (with considerably limited OnePlus One smartphone stocks) to order and receive their devices on time. Those ordering after the 'limited windows' period will have to wait until fresh stocks arrive and begin shipments which in most cases face an extended delay.

"During a limited time window, you will be able to place an order for the OnePlus One. If we have the items in stock, we'll ship immediately. If we don't, it will automatically become a pre-order. No matter what, we'll always tell you our best approximation for when it will ship before you submit the payment authorization," adds the company.

Elimination of the 'Invite System'

OnePlus' latest pre-order system announcement eliminates the company's earlier 'invite system' under which invitations were sent to potential buyers to purchase the device thus isolating an even larger number of 'potential buyers'.

Customers pre-booking OnePlus One smartphones are also allowed to cancel their pre-orders and thereby claim the money reserved to pre-book the smartphone.

However, if OnePlus sees you as an esteemed customer, (after you pre-order) and sends out an invite, you can then bypass the entire pre-order system and directly get your OnePlus One shipments delivered.
