Holland’s Got Talent Gordon Heuckeroth sparked international outcry for a racist slur against contestant Xiao Wang (YouTube)

A judge on Holland's Got Talent has sparked an outcry over a series of racist digs he directed at a contestant.

Cornelis Heuckeroth, who goes by the stage name of Gordon, mocked singer Xiao Wang's ethnicity before, during and after his performance.

"Which number are you singing? Number 39 with rice?" Heuckeroth asked Xiao after the contestant announced he was to sing an opera aria.

After Xiao performed La Donna è Mobile from Verdi's Rigoletto, Heuckeroth said in a mock Chinese voice: "Surplise. Honestly, this is the best Chinese I've had in weeks. And it's not a takeaway."

Heuckeroth's remarks were met with a mixture of laughter and embarrassment by Xiao, judges Dan Karaty and Chantal Janzen, and the audience.

"You really are not supposed to say things like that to people," Karaty was heard telling Heuckeroth after the show. "It's awful."

A YouTube Video of the incident posted online by the show's broadcaster RTL television went viral on the internet triggering an angry reaction.

‏"Shocked to see that racist Holland's Got Talent video," tweeted @RyMacleod.

"@SimonCowell needs to fire Gordon Heuckeroth, a white racist pig. All Chinese are disgusted at this vile smuck!" tweeted ‏@hk_chiro.

A spokesman for Fremantle Media, which owns the 'Got Talent' franchise, said

that the company was looking into the matter but had no further comment until after speaking to the production team.
