Huawei Ascend D quad XL powered by a powerful battery of 2500mAh was unveiled alongside two other D series smartphones by Huawei at the 2012 Mobile World Congress in February. All these Ascend D series smartphone as promised by Huawei are slotted for the second quarter of this year release across China, Australia, Europe, Asia-Pacific, North and South America and the Middle East. Weighing slightly heavier than the other Ascend D series smartphones at 150g, the Ascend D quad Xl will be powered by latest Android operating system 4.0. The smartphone also features Dolby Mobile 3.0 with sound enhancement. It will be equipped with a high resolution eight megapixel main camera.

Display

The Huawei Ascend D quad XL will feature a 4.5in IPS+LCD capacitive touch screen. The resolution of the smartphone is 720 x 1280pixels with a pixel density of 326 pixels per inch (ppi).

The Galaxy S3 features a Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 2. The display features the TouchWiz User Interface (UI) v4.0 and the resolution of the display is 720 x 1280 pixels with a density of 306 ppi.

Dimension

The Ascend D quad XL measures 129 x 64 x 10.9mm in thickness and weighs 150g whereas the Galaxy S3 measures 136.6 x 70.6 x 8.6mm and weighs comparatively less at 133g.

Operating System

The Ascend D quad XL will run on the Android 4.0 Ice cream Sandwich (ICS) but the Galaxy S3 runs with a slightly updated version of Android 4.0.4 ICS.
Processor

The Ascend D quad XL will be powered by a Huawei K3V2 quad-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz.

The Galaxy S3 is powered by the Exynos 4 quad-core processor, clocked at 1.4GHz. Both smartphones pack 1GB of RAM.

Camera

The Huawei Ascend D quad XL will be equipped with an eight megapixel rear-facing camera with features including auto-focus, dual-LED flash and geo-tagging. The camera can capture video in 1080p at 30 frames per second (fps). It will also have a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera which can record video in 720p.

The Galaxy S3 is equipped with a main camera of eight megapixels with auto-focus, LED flash and other features such as simultaneous HD video and image recording, geo-tagging, touch-focus, face and smile detection and image stabilisation. The camera can record video in 1080p and 30 fps. The handset packs a secondary camera of 1.9 megapixels, which can record video in 720p at 30 fps

Connectivity

The Ascend D quad XL will offer Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi hotspot, DLNA and Bluetooth version 3 with A2DP and HS. It will support data speed up to HSDPA 21Mbps and HSUPA 5.76Mbps.

The Galaxy S3 offers Wi-Fi b/g/n, Wi-Fi HT40, Near Field Communication (NFC) technology and Bluetooth v4.0. It supports data speeds up to HSDPA 21Mbps and HSUPA 5.76 Mbps and can connect to 4G network speeds.

Storage

The Ascend D quad XL will offer storage space of 8GB and offer a microSD slot with an additional storage space up to 32GB. The S3 offers more storage options and comes in two models - 16/32GB, with a 64GB model expected as well. The smartphone supports microSD card.

Battery

The Ascend D quad XL will be powered by a powerful battery with capacity of 2500mAh which will last for two to three days of normal usage. The Galaxy S3 has a Li-ion 2100mAh battery and delivers talk time of up to 21 hours and 40 minutes on 2G and 11 hours and 40 minutes on 3G networks.
