Alec Baldwin has been booted off an American Airlines flight for apparently playing a mobile game.

According to spokesperson for the 53-year-old actor, he was kicked off the LA flight on Tuesday afternoon after he failed to stop playing "Words With Friends" on his mobile phone when asked by a flight attendant.

The frustrated 30 Rock star took to social networking site, Twitter to share his experience with his 600,000 followers by tweeting: "Flight attendant on American reamed me out 4 playing WORDS W FRIENDS while we sat at the gate, not moving. #nowonderamericaairisbankrupt. "

Another passenger on board the same flight to New York was clearly not impressed about Baldwin causing the flight to be delayed.

Technology firm Activate founder Michael J. Wolf, Tweeted: "On an AA flight at LAX. Alec Baldwin removed from the plane. We had to go back to the gate. Terrible that everyone had to wait."

Once his journey had resumed a few hours later, the actor took to Twitter once again to lambast the airline and make sure the world knew that he not happy about being kicked off the plane.

One angry tweet read: "Now on the 3 o'clock American flight. The flight attendants already look.....smarter."

In a statement, American Airlines said the company would not "comment on something that might or might not have happened."
