New Android Marshmallow build released
Sony is firm on bringing Android Marshmallow software update for its Xperia range Sony

The Android 6.0 Marshmallow update will finally arrive for UK users of the Xperia Z5, Xperia Z4 Tablet and Xperia Z3+ from 7 March. This is the first confirmation by the company after the latest update for Android reportedly started rolling out for the Xperia Z5 to users in Turkey last week.

Sony's UK division confirmed the announcement on Twitter when a concerned user of the Xperia Z3 device enquired when he would get the Marshmallow update. The statement says that the company will notify when exactly each device will start getting the Marshmallow but given the trend followed by most smartphone companies, the flagship device - the Xperia Z series here - should be the first to receive the update.

Although there is no official word from the company yet, it seems a global rollout can also be expected soon for the Xperia devices. The Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact were only recently launched in the US, so users there may have to wait for a while till the update hits them.

Post the release of Marshmallow last year, Sony had said it would make Android 6.0 available for the following devices: Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact, Xperia Z5 Premium, Xperia Z4 Tablet, Xperia Z3+, Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet, Xperia M5, Xperia C5 Ultra, Xperia M4 Aqua and Xperia C4. Many of these devices will skip the Android 5.1 update and directly jump to Marshmallow from Android 5.0 Lollipop.
