Search giant Google and The Hollywood Reporter (THR) organised a pre-White House correspondents' dinner party at the W Hotel in Washington on the eve of the annual White House Correspondents' Association dinner to be held on 28 April.

Several political leaders, celebrities and tech giants including Google's Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt, Piers Morgan of CNN, THR's Editorial Director Janice Min, actress Sofia Vergara, model and Sports Illustrated cover girl Kate Upton, comedienne Nasim Pedrad, model Lauren Bush and actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson among others graced the occasion.

The annual White House dinner party is one of the most anticipated events of the year being held by White House Correspondents' Association (WHCA) to honour professional recipients of the WHCA's journalism awards and also to raise money for scholarships given to promising journalism students to play an important role in the association's mission.

The event will be attended by President Barack Obama, whose joke sketch is expected during the event, and other political honchos including Obama's senior campaign adviser David Axelrod, Rep Allen West, Attorney General Eric Holder, National Security Adviser Tom Donilon, Army Chief of Staff Gen. Ray Odierno and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, according to Politico.

The event will also see a host of movie stars, TV personalities and music stars attending. The celebrity guest list includes actors George Clooney, Lindsay Lohan, Steven Spielberg, Reese Witherspoon, Charlize Theron, Josh Hutcherson, Zooey Deschanel, Viola Davis, Stevie Wonder, Sofia Vergara, Elizabeth Banks, Claire Danes, Daniel Day-Lewis, Dakota Fanning, Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer, Eva Longoria, Martha Stewart, Kim Kardashian and her mother Kris Jenner.

This year's event will be hosted by popular TV host and comedian Jimmy Kimmel. More than 2,500 guests are expected to attend the event.

According to People magazine, the dinner menu will include three courses prepared by the executive chef of the Washington Hilton, Andre Coté. The menu has bread presentations with seven-grain, white, wheat and sourdough rolls, salads and desserts including "The Galaxy," a chocolate truffle mousse layered with chocolate genoise and almond macaroon.
