The new Samsung Galaxy S3 comes with extraordinary features such as smart stay, direct call, smart alert, social tag and S voice.

The most hyped smartphone is expected to rival the iPhone with its gigantic touchscreen and faster processor. It packs eye-tracking control which allows the screen to stay awake when it senses that a user is looking at it. Its S voice feature allows the user to access anything through voice commands. The device features Near Field Communication (NFC) which can be used to share the content by simply tapping the devices together.

On the other hand, the Galaxy S2 has turned out to be an amazing device, thanks to its faster processor, voice talk and NFC. The ultra-slim gadget offers faster processing, web browsing and easy multi-tasking. According to earlier reports in IBTimes UK, a leaked T-Mobile roadmap reveals that the Galaxy S2 may receive its ICS updates on 14 May.

Display

The Galaxy S3 touts a Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The 4.8in screen includes Corning Gorilla Glass 2 and the TouchWiz User Interface (UI) 4.0 version. The new Corning Gorilla Glass 2 is 20 per cent thinner and offers better touch responsiveness.

In comparison, the Galaxy S2 comes with a 4.3in Super AMOLED Plus capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. It incorporates Corning Gorilla Glass which defends the screen from scratches and dust.

Processor

The Galaxy S3 is powered by a 1.4GHz Cortex-A9 quad-core CPU and an Exynos 4212 quad chipset. It includes Mali 400 MP GPU which offers support for complete acceleration, maximises battery life and minimises heat dissipation.

In contrast, the Galaxy S2 is powered by a 1.2GHz Cortex-A9 dual-core CPU and an Exynos chipset.

Camera

Both, the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy S2 boasts of an eight megapixels rear-facing camera which features auto-focus, LED flash, geo-tagging, face and smile detection and image stabilisation. It allows the users to record video of 1080p.

The Galaxy S3 includes a front-facing camera of 1.9 megapixels, while the Galaxy S2 contains a two megapixel camera for video calling.

Operating System

The Galaxy S3 runs on the latest Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) operating system.

But, the Galaxy S2 runs on Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread OS. It could be upgraded to Android 4.0 ICS.

The ICS features easy multi-tasking, resizable widgets, rich notifications and new face unlock actions.

Storage

The Galaxy S3 contains internal storage options of 16/32/64GB and 1GB RAM. It includes a microSD card slot with an additional memory of 64GB.

The Galaxy S2 contains internal storage options of 16/32GB and 1GB RAM. It has a microSD card slot with an additional memory of 32GB.

Battery

The Galaxy S3 packs Li-Ion 2100mAh standard battery.

The Galaxy S2 comes with a Li-Ion 1650mAh standard battery. It allows standby time of up to 710 hours on 2G and 610 hours on 3G networks. It provides talk time of up to 18 hours 20 minutes on 2G and eight hours 40 minutes on 3G networks.
