The nominees for the 70th annual Golden Globe Awards were announced by Hollywood actresses Jessica Alba and Megan Fox, with Ed Helms and Dr Aida Takla-O'Reilly, president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles.

Daniel Day-Lewis' Lincoln continues to earn rave reviews and please critics, with the historical drama nominated for Best Motion Picture, Best Supporting Actress (Sally Field) and Best Director (Steven Spielberg). Day-Lewis picked up a nomination for Best Actor as well. Quentin Tarantino's Western shooter, Django Unchained, and Ben Affleck's Argo were also among the frontrunners, picking up five mentions each. Meanwhile, on the television front, the thriller Homeland continues to impress, being nominated for four awards including Best TV Series and Best Actor (Damian Lewis) and Best Actress (Claire Danes).

As for the red carpet tales, Alba looked pretty in pink, in a Christian Dior creation paired with Christian Louboutin shoes. Transformers star Fox opted for a floral print Giambattista Valli dress. The hosts for th awards, scheduled for 13 January at the Beverly Hilton, will be Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.
