Tottenham youngster Alex Pritchard will join Championship side Peterborough United on loan until the end of the season just hours after putting pen to paper on a new two-and-a-half year deal.

The 19-year-old winger has been a regular in the Spurs youth team this season and has particularly impressed while representing the NextGen side where he has scored four goals in four games.

Tottenham reached the last 16 of the competition but Pritchard will now be hoping to impress for Peterborough where he is likely to compete for a regular place in the first team.

The Posh are currently bottom of the league with just 26 points from their 28 league games and are six points behind Ipswich who are in 21st place.

Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony revealed how pleased he was to secure the services of the talented winger.

"Delighted to announce loan signing of Alex Pritchard from Spurs who has joined until end of season. He is a fantastic young talent," tweeted MacAnthony.

"[sic] Myself & Gaffer watched this young lad destroy our reserve team couple weeks ago scoring 4 goals from playing left wing/Right wing /att mid."

The Tottenham youngster had been linked with a possible move to Liverpool who had earlier this season appointed former Spurs youth team manager Alex Inglethorpe as their new reserve team coach.

The Express believes that Liverpool were interested as Pritchard's contract was due to end this summer but Tottenham have secured his future after his agent exclusively informed IBTimesUK that he signed a new two-and-a-half year deal which contains a clause for a possible extension should he continue to impress.

Liverpool's youth team has been excelling this season, with the Under-21 side currently still unbeaten, but it seems the chance to push for first team football at Tottenham was too good to turn down.
