Schalke star Christoph Metzelder claims his teammate Julian Draxler will be scouted by Bayern Munich over the remainder of the season, with the midfielder also fielding interest from Arsenal.

Draxler has been on-form for Schalke since moving through the club's youth side to their senior line-up in 2010, and in 35 appearances this season the Germany international has scored nine times.

Such statistics are quite the achievement for a player yet to come out of his teens, and the 19 year old's teammate has revealed that Bayern will be watching as they continue to pick out the country's best talent.

"If the development of Julian Draxler continues, Bayern Munich will automatically become a top of discussion at some point," Metzelder told Sky Sports News HD.

Julian Draxler
Julian Draxler is being watched by both Bayern Munich and Arsenal.

Arsenal had reportedly been keeping an eye on the youngster, with the north London club scouting Draxler on numerous occasions. His performances have certainly been impressive for Schalke in both the Bundesliga and the Champions League, and the club are said to be willing to part with their starlet for around £15 million.

But Bayern are well versed in beating off international opposition in the pursuit of German players who show potential for a successful future, with the club beating the Gunners to Mario Gotze this week and activating his £32 million release clause to ensure an exit from Borussia Dortmund.

Draxler became the youngest player to feature for Schalke in 100 consecutive games in March, and has been touted as an even better signing than highly sought-after midfielder Lewis Holtby, who left the club for Tottenham in January.

While Arsenal might hope to land Draxler with promises of playing in the Champions League, granted they qualify, a move to Bayern would be very difficult to turn down, particularly as the side are on the road to the treble this season having secured German Cup final and Champions League semi final spots after wrapping up their title in record time.

His price would be easily met by the German giants, though Arsenal are believed to have a transfer kitty worth around £70 million, which would allow Wenger to easily make a play for Draxler if a move away from Germany is what he desires.
