Aly Cissokho has opened the door to a potential move to Liverpool by admitting he would be interested in joining the "fantastic" Premier League club.

The Reds have been connected with Cissokho, who has become an integral member of the Valencia squad over the last season, on a number of occasions this year.

Reports this week have suggested that Rodgers is hoping Cissokho will serve to create more depth in his defensive line up for next season, and while he only joined Valencia in the summer of 2012, the 25 year old says he would be open to the idea of a move.

"I will not believe that I am going anywhere until I am in Liverpool and having a medical," he said, according to Sky Sports. "Liverpool is such a great club, so to be linked with them is fantastic. But there is nothing concrete from anyone at the moment.

"If there is an opportunity to join such a club, I will take it. Valencia are a great club, in a great city, but Liverpool are a legendary club."

Liverpool are on the lookout for defenders this summer, with manager Brendan Rodgers planning an overhaul of a squad who have ambitions of playing Champions League football in the 2014-15 season and beyond.

Cissokho burst onto the scene for Porto in 2009 after making the move from Portuguese club Vitoria Setubal, and after just one year he made the move back to his home country to play for Lyon.

Arsenal have on occasion been linked with the 25 year old who is looking to build on his singular international cap which he received in 2010.

But now Liverpool look the most likely side to give the star his chance in the Premier League, as Rodgers considers putting forward a bid of around £4m for his services.
