Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is determined to land a world class player after missing out on Tottenham's Gareth Bale and has now placed Luis Suarez and Zlatan Ibrahimovic at the top of his wanted list.

The Spanish giants were left frustrated in their pursuit of Bale as Tottenham made it clear that they had no intention of allowing their prized asset to leave the club. Madrid have made two significant additions in Spanish youngsters Isco and Asier Illarramendi but it seems Perez is determined to land an established superstar.

Liverpool striker Suarez has been heavily linked with a move away from Anfield and has been the subject of two offers from Arsenal already this summer. However, he had originally indicated that he would prefer a move away from England and said it would be impossible to turn down Real Madrid.

Spanish newspaper Sport believes that Madrid are now seriously considering an offer for the unhappy Liverpool forward but are unprepared to match the £40m release clause which is believed to be in his contract.

They hope that a lower bid will convince Suarez to force his way out of Liverpool, but should the Uruguay international fail to engineer a move then they will also consider a bid for Pairs Saint Germain's Ibrahimovic.

Like Suarez the hugely talented Swedish striker is considered one of the top strikers in world football and has been linked with a possible move away from the Ligue 1 champions after they completed a club record deal for Edinson Cavani.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Ibrahimovic has always liked to be the number one striker at a club and his good relationship with Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti could well put the club in prime position to land the prolific forward.

AS reports that Ibrahimovic is prepared to join Madrid as he would like to be reunited with Ancelotti who helped PSG win the league title last season, with the 31 year old leading the line.

Either Suarez or Ibrahimovich would represent a major signing for Real Madrid and Perez would hope it would appease the fans who were still chanting the name of Tottenham's Gareth Bale when Illarramendi was unveiled earlier this week.

Should Madrid secure the signature of either striker then it is also likely to spell the end for Gonzalo Higuain who has been the subject of interest from several major European clubs but has yet to be agree a move.
