Tottenham are planning a swoop for Halmstads' 17-year-old starlet Valmir Berisha, according to the Mirror.

The Swedish striker has been dubbed the next Zlatan Ibrahimovic and is already catching interest from across the globe. Tottenham have put themselves firmly in line for the striker's signature and are looking to make a swoop for a fee of £500,000. The teenager caught the eye of Tottenham scouts with his hattrick against Argentina in the U-17 World Cup. He also scored a brilliant back volley against Hondurus in the semi-finals, which reminded scouts of the Paris Saint-Germain striker.

Major clubs from across Europe have already set their sights on the striker and Andre Villas-Boas' side have to dig deep to pull off a coup for the forward. Spurs are in the market for a striker and though a 17-year-old is not the answer to their troubles, his arrival will be one for the future in the same grain as the likes of Gareth Bale and Kyle Walker.

Tottenham are struggling, having failed to see off Newcastle at White Hart Lane, with Tim Krul pulling off a series of brilliant saves to secure three crucial points for the Magpies. The loss means that Tottenham remain on 20 points, joint with Manchester United and will face the Red Devils on December 1 as the race for a place in the top four heats up. Defender Micahel Dawson ruminates on the loss and insists that the north London club have to buck up or fear losing out in the race.

"The first half wasn't good enough, well below par from our standards. We got in at half-time, the gaffer was far from happy and we regrouped. We were fantastic in the second half but we couldn't get the ball in the back of the net. Tim Krul made some incredible saves. It wasn't our day. There is nothing better for a team when your goalkeeper is playing like that," he told Tottenham's Official Website.

"I looked at the clock after he'd made a couple of saves, it was 53 minutes gone and I thought 'we've still plenty of time to score'. Everyone was behind us, the atmosphere was fantastic and I'm gutted we couldn't get that first goal to give us a chance to perhaps go on and win it," he added.
