Nigerian Blogger Linda Ikeji Gives Away 1 Million Naira to Readers

Linda Ikeji, Nigeria's most successful blogger, has announced plans to give away 1 million Naira (£4000) to 10 of her readers.

The Lagos-based writer intends to give away the cash prize in time for Christmas as a thank you to fans for their love and support.

"For all your love, your support, for refreshing this page many times a day, for taking the time to drop comments, for choosing me as your number one source for information. Most importantly for changing my story and making my life much better. I'm truly grateful ," she wrote in a post on her site.

"I've been thinking of how to give back to you guys and decided maybe some money for Christmas will be appreciated."

Ikeji, who is a former model, started her blog in 2006 after a false story was written about her.

She now receives up to 400,000 visits in a day and has readers from over 150 countries.
