Cinderella
Glass slippers are "really comfortable" apparently. Disney

Disney's live action Cinderella movie has launched its first trailer.

Kenneth Branagh directs the latest version of the classic fairy tale, with Lily James as its titular star alongside Cate Blanchett and Helena Bonham Carter, both seeming in fine scenery-chewing form.

You can watch the trailer below...

The trailer basically outlines most of the plot, but seeing as that plot is Cinderella we doubt anybody will particularly care. For the uninitiated, Cinderella does indeed go to the ball - despite the bullying of her step mother (Blanchett) and her awful daughters - and while there loses her glass slipper, which the local Prince then uses to find her.

There's Prince Charming (Richard Madden), the Fairy Godmother (Bonham Carter), a big ol' pumpkin carriage and mice turning into horses - every thing you'd expect.

It is certainly good however to see a modern telling of a fairy tale that doesn't feel the need to crowbar in a Lord of the Rings-style battle sequence for no apparent reason - like Snow White and Jack and the Beanstalk.

Disney are in a rich vein of form at the moment. Aside from the huge success of Marvel Studios (whom they own) their fairy tale projects Frozen and Maleficent have both done wonderfully over the past year.

Cinderella will go to the ball on 27 March 2015.
