Manchester City's grand plans this summer have been boosted after Napoli forward Edinson Cavani revealed it would be a pleasure to work with incoming City boss Manuel Pellegrini.

But the Uruguayan forward also name dropped Jose Mourinho as someone he'd be eager to work alongside, leaving it to the two Premier League giants to battle it out for the 26-year-old's coveted signature.

City have wasted no time in restructuring their side after relinquishing their Premier League crown to Manchester United last season. The club have already spent a reported £30m in bringing Brazilian midfielder Fernandinho to the Etihad Stadium, while a deal for Sevilla winger Jesus Navas is expected to be formally announced in the coming days.

The acquisition of Serie A's leading goal scorer would certainly prove to be a worthy addition to the club who are expected to announce the formal appointment of Pellegrini imminently, and Cavani admits it would be a privilege to play under the former Malaga coach at City.

"I don't know if they made an offer for me, I just know that to be coached by someone like Manuel Pellegrini or Jose Mourinho would always be a pleasure," Cavani told Sky Sports.

"And when the time is right it would be great to play for one of these teams, because when I was a child I imagined doing it - but now I am only thinking about Uruguay.

"In my career I have always had to deal with rumours of me signing for another team and I just have to keep my feet on the ground."

While much of Monday's focus has been upon Mourinho's formal unveiling at Stamford Bridge, City have captured the imagination of the early stages of the transfer market. With a deal for Fernandinho confirmed, Sevilla's Navas is just waiting to have his move ratified, and cannot hide his excitement over what lies ahead.

"I am very excited to go there," the winger told Marca. "They have shown a lot of interest and I have always wanted to go there. I am clear and I am very happy.

"I am going to a great team, with world-famous players and a style of football that I love. I love how football is played in England - the speed, the style of play, the high level they play at. I am going to play with Silva and I am excited to win important things."
