Will Fast and Furious 7 star Jason Statham make a good James Bond? Well, the actor himself definitely believes so.

During his latest interview with The Guardian while promoting his new film Spy, Statham expressed an interest in playing the next 007.

"Could I do it? Abso-f**king-lutely," he said. "Would I do it? Abso-f**king-lutely. Is Daniel Craig a great Bond? Abso-f**king-lutely."

"...I'd make a decent Bond," he added. "But it'd be very, very different if I did it."

The Guardian report added that, "Statham's self-made, by-the-bootstraps backstory is surely more in tune with modern Britain than the traditional public-school elitist Bond biography."

Also, when asked if he would be equally keen on playing a Bond villain instead, Statham replied: "...I don't know if I wanna to do that. That's not my thing. I'd rather play the other guy."

The current 007 Daniel Craig, announced this year that his upcoming Bond flick - Spectre will be his last one in the long-running franchise. It remains to be seen if Statham makes the list for the next Bond hopefuls.

Earlier this year, rumours also surfaced suggesting that the studio is looking at Thor actor Idris Elba for the role.

Spectre is slated to release on 6 November 2015.
