Fast and Furious 8 plot
Vin Diesel 's upcoming Fast and Furious sequel will be based on the streets of New York Vin Diesel/Universal Studios

Fast and Furious 8 will be the first movie without Paul Walker but moving on from the tragedy, Vin Diesel, the actor and producer of the movie, is planning something interesting for the next sequel. Rumours have it that talks are on to cast Charlize Theron as the movie's lead villain.

Deadline reported that the Fast 8's director Gary Gray and screenwriter Chris Morgan are framing an action-packed storyline for a female antagonist and are in talks with the Mad Max: Fury Road actress to play the role.

However, nothing has been confirmed yet and Universal Studios is yet to take a call on the casting. Gray and Theron have previously worked together for the heist thriller The Italian Job. If everything goes well, she will join Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson in the action sequel.

There are rumours that Michelle Rodriguez will also return to the eighth movie in the Fast and Furious franchise to reprise her popular character Letty Ortiz.

The Rock has already confirmed his return to the sequel with his recent Instagram video. "Our 2016 shooting schedule is a grueling 12 months straight of filming (Ballers, Baywatch, Fast & Furious 8 and the big one, Rampage) it requires me putting together a team of professionals from all areas of business who bring their own expertise to the table," he wrote.

The filming for the highly anticipated movie will begin in 2016. Diesel, who also co-produces the movie, will return to reprise his role as Dominic Toretto. Jason Statham and Kurt Russell will also return to reprise their roles as Deckard Shaw and Mr Nobody respectively.

Fast and Furious 8 will premiere on 14 April 2017.
