Just when you thought Grand Theft Auto 4 (GTA 4) had packed in all it could probably have in terms of content and spoofs, YouTube user Wapedell has come up with a new mod - the character of Gordon Freeman, the silent protagonist of Valve Software's Half-Life series, morphed to resemble Hollywood icon Morgan Freeman!

Wapedell has something of a reputation for creating bizarre situations, with previous efforts including the transportation of Far Cry 3's Jason Brody and Vaas to the concrete jungle that is Liberty City.

The Morgan Freeman-like character is shown with the same panache that is usually associated with the veteran star. However, his actions are unlikely to find favour with the 75-year-old Academy Award winner.

Wapedell has the Freeman-mod shooting down helpless policemen with utter nonchalance and then blow up cars and cause utter destruction in his wake.

Meanwhile, Rockstar Games, the developers of the GTA series, have announced a 17 September release for the newest installment of the widely popular but hugely controversial series. In a statement released by the company, the developers said they expected the game to launch worldwide on both the Xbox and the PlayStation.

"Grand Theft Auto V continues to push the series forward in new ways; Rockstar North are creating our deepest, most beautiful and most immersive world yet," Sam Houser, the founder of Rockstar Games, said, "We are very excited for people to learn more about the game in the coming months."

Fans of the series are likely to be disappointed though, given the new September date is at least three months after the original date of spring 2013. It is believed GTA V needs the extra development time, particularly since a new open-world multiplayer component is being planned.
