England had made a fighting 2-2 comeback, due to the heroics of Jermain Defoe, after trailing by two goals in the first half to the Dutch national side, during the two teams' last encounter in August 12, 2009.

Holland managed two early strikes, in the first half, via Kuyt and Van der Vaart in the 10th and 38th minute respectively.

However, Jermain Defoe, after coming in as a substitute in the second half, single handedly brought England back in to the game with two back to back goals in the 49th and 77th minute respectively.
