Justin Bieber's luggage was searched for drugs by police at a Florida airport after officers received an anonymous tip-off.

According to celebrity site TMZ.com, the pop star and his entourage were targeted by plain clothes police and a dog squad after officers received a call from an informant.

Their bags were searched by sniffer dogs as they unloaded on the curb of the airport in Fort Lauderdale.

"The reason cops searched the bags is because they received an anonymous tip someone in Justin's party had drugs in their luggage," a source told TMZ.

"Justin's bags, along with the bags of his entourage, were searched. Cops found nothing."

Luckily for the singer, who has had multiple run-ins with the law in recent months, no drugs were found in his possession.

Following the search, the party were allowed to head to their private jet to fly to Miami.

Bieber is believed to have missed out on most of the commotion as he had already left the scene to greet fans.

This is not the first time police have searched the singer and his crew for drugs.

In April, a small amount of marijuana was discovered by police in Sweden when they searched the star's tour bus while on the European leg of his Believe tour.

In July US border authorities found the same drug on his tour bus as it tried to enter the United States from Canada. The Baby hitmaker was not on the bus at the time when police found and seized a small amount of marijuana, as well as drug paraphernalia.
