An overzealous fan has learnt that there are consequences to slapping Justin Timberlake after being been arrested. As previously reported by TMZ, the singer was attacked while participating in the American Century Celebrity Pro-Am in Lake Tahoe over the weekend (23 July).

As the 35-year-old star walked through the crowd, a spectator got a little too hands-on by reaching over the ropes and through security to hit the back of his head. In footage making the rounds online, the Mirrors crooner can be seen stopping in his tracks, turning around and shouting: "Bro, why would you do that?"

Although organisers saw it as a 'minor incident' and the father-of-one did not wish to press charges, things escalated really quickly when law enforcement arrived on the scene to escort the man off the premises. Sources told TMZ that he claimed he was just trying to "touch" the former NSYNC singer and insisted that his overenthusiasm did not warrant him being ejected from the venue.

As he became belligerent and allegedly appeared intoxicated, he was taken into police custody and charged with disorderly conduct.

Back in June, Timberlake found himself accused of cultural appropriation after he tweeted his appreciation following Jesse Williams' empowering speech about racism in America at the BET Awards 2016.

After getting into an online exchange with a critic, he apologised to fans saying he felt misunderstood. "I responded to a specific tweet that wasn't meant to be a general response. I shouldn't have responded anyway... I forget this forum sometimes... I was truly inspired by @iJesseWilliams speech because I really do feel that we are all one... A human race. I apologize to anyone that felt I was out of turn. I have nothing but LOVE FOR YOU AND ALL OF US," he said.
