It seems that while Prince William is away, Kate Middleton is getting better acquainted with her new in-laws by spending quality time with the Duchess of Cornwall and the Queen.

The trio stepped out together for the first time, without Prince William or Prince Charles to visit luxury department store Fortnum & Mason in London's West End.

The visit, which marks a rare appearance by all three ladies was also attended by Mayor of London Boris Johnson, who greeted them and was seen joking around with the Duchess of Cambridge outside the store.

During the trip they will be taken on a private tour around the luxurious food hall and the queen is scheduled to unveil a plaque to mark the renovation of Piccadilly area.

Kate looked effortlessly glamorous for the engagement in a collarless blue coat from Missoni which she teamed with grey suede heels by Rupert Sanderson.

While the Queen choose a wore a pale blue outfit with a matching hat for the occasion and Camilla opted for a navy blue coat with white horizontal stripes at the top.

The royal ladies will continue their day by attend a tea party at the store for around 150 staff, suppliers and former employees.
