An unnamed Premier League club have bid for Liverpool target Gaston Ramirez, according to his club Bologna.

Ramiez has scored six goals this season in Serie A and has reportedly attracted interest from manager Kenny Dalglish.

The 21-year-old makes up part of Liverpool's reported summer shopping list, however, they could be beaten to the chase with the player's agent Pablo Bentacur claiming a Premier League side have bid for the Uruguayan starlet.

"Bologna have received an offer near to 20 million Euros from an important club in the Premier League," Bentancur said.

"Bologna will decide at the end of the season what they are going to do."

Liverpool will be looking to bring in Ramirez to join fellow countryman Luis Suarez and Sebastian Coates at Anfield, and assist in rebuilding a midfield decimated by injuries and a lack of form this term.

Lucas Leiva suffered a season ended anterior knee ligament injury against Chelsea in the Carling Cup in November, which ruled him out for the rest of the season, while the fitness of Steven Gerrard and Charlie Adam, who won't play again this term, has also been sporadic.

Meanwhile the form of Stewart Downing and Jordan Henderson, following summer moves from Aston Villa and Sunderland respectively, has disappointed supporters of Liverpool and dramatically impacted on the club's domestic progress.

Appearances in two domestic cup finals have helped soften the blow of the club's disappointing league campaign, which has seen them miss out on qualification for the Champions League.

Whether there are other alterations to the Reds squad or not remains to be seen, but after a catalogue of problems in front of goal, an additional striker could be high on Dalglish's wish list.

The likes of Dirk Kuyt could make way this summer, while Jamie Carragher is coming to the end of his career
