The opening ceremony of the London Olympics is just hours away now after seven years of preparations. David Beckham who was part of the games bid, joined London's Mayor Boris Johnson to see the Olympic flame travel through south London, this is what he said.

"Seven years ago when Seb asked me to get involved with the bid team I was honoured because obviously being part of the team that was trying to bring the Olympics to a part of London where I grew up, I was very proud of that so today's been an amazing moment."

Meanwhile over at The Olympic Archery event at Lords the first two world records of the 2012 Olympics have been set by South Korea. But there was a bit of a mix up with the tickets which occurred after the event was listed as 'unticketed' in some official brochures, leading some fans and ticketing websites to believe it was a free event open to the public on the day.

And the final word from Jacques Rogge before the grand opening ceremony ,is yes we are ready

"In terms of readiness these Games equal the readiness of Sydney and Beijing definitely to speak about the most recent Games. But the proof of the pudding is in the eating so perhaps ask me the same question after the closing ceremony."

So, as they said at the original Olympics' in ancient Greece, let the games commence.
