Maddox Jolie-Pitt, the eldest son of former couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, has opened up for the first time about his relationship with his father. According to reports the father-son have had a strained relationship ever since Jolie filed for divorce.

"Um, I don't know about that, what's happening," Maddox said in a video obtained by In Touch. The 18-year-old was approached by a paparazzo and asked if his father will visit him at college, reports Yahoo.

It's been a month since Jolie dropped Maddox at Yonsei University in South Korea, where he is pursuing biochemistry. When asked if his relationship with the "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" actor is over, Maddox said, "Whatever happens, happens".

Maddox graciously diverted the conversation to his college life and said he is living in dorms, is yet to learn Korean, and isn't a fan of the popular boy band K-pop yet.

Maddox's relationship with the 55-year-old actor reportedly had strained even before Jolie filed for divorce. Nearly three years ago, a mid-flight altercation between the two had even prompted an investigation from the Los Angeles' Department of Children and Family Services. The argument reportedly occurred on a private plane in 2016, and was said to be the catalyst for Pitt and Jolie's marriage ending.

There have been conflicting reports whether the altercation flared and got physical, but Pitt landed under investigation for child abuse. However, he was given a clean chit.

The incident was a disagreement "that sometimes occurs between teenage boys and their father," sources confirmed speaking to E! News. He added that no abuse took place.

Later Maddox refused to see his actor father. They finally met face-to-face in October 2014, with a therapist present.

Meanwhile, Maddox continues to be close with his mother. The 44-year-old went to drop her son off at his University in Seoul and said: "I am trying not to cry."
