Navneet Kaur Dhillion won the 50th annual Femina Miss India contest defeating 22 other gorgeous ladies in the grand finale held at Yashraj Studios, Mumbai.

The 20-year-old media student from northern Indian state of Punjab impressed all in the final round as she answered what would be her only regret if she were to die the following day.

"The only thing I would regret would be not having done as much for society as I would like to. Issues of women's empowerment and child labour and other social evils are a big concern," she said.

Miss India 2012 Vanya Mishra placed the crown on her, which bears a peacock feather in the centre, symbolising the national bird of India. Apart from modelling, Dhillion is also interested in photography, swimming and horse-riding.

The first runner-up of the contest was Sobhita Dhulipala and the second runner-up was Zoya Afroz.

Former Miss Worlds and popular actresses Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra entertained the audience with their performances.

Chopra, who won the title in the year 2000, told the winners to appreciate the crown.

"It stays with you forever. It changes you from who you could have been to who you are going to be," she said.

Dhillion will represent India at the Miss Universe international beauty pageant this year. Dhulipala will represent India in the Miss World contest and Afroz will be India's entry for Miss Earth.
