MTV Europe Music Awards 2015: Taylor Swift continues winning streak with nine nominations

It is safe to say that 2015 is fast becoming Taylor Swift's year. After cleaning up at the 2015 MTV VMAs, the 25-year-old singer's global domination shows no sign of slowing down. The Bad Blood singer, has been nominated for a record nine awards at the forthcoming MTV Europe Music Awards next month including gongs for best song, best video and best collaboration.

Just like her fans, Swift found out the good news through MTV's Snapchat Discover channel. Fans can cast their votes at mtvema.com. Taking to social media to express her excitement, the songstress retweeted the official MTV EMA announcement to her 63.5m followers.

In an interesting twist, Calvin Harris's girlfriend will go head-to-head with Young Money rapper Nicki Minaj for best female. The Anaconda hitmaker hosted the show in 2014 and pair are said to be all good after bringing an end to their twitter feud just weeks ago.

Following closely behind is pop superstar Justin Bieber with six nominations, boosted by the global success of his chart-topping track What Do You Mean?

Having announced their split, One Direction's Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson - are up for three prizes - Best UK and Ireland Act, Best Pop and Biggest Fans. Also flying the flag for Britain are Little Mix who were chosen by fans to be the wildcard in the Best UK and Ireland Act category.

The 2015 MTV Europe Music Awards will take place at the Mediolanum Forum in Milan on 25 October. A host has yet to be announced.
