Karen Gillan and Matt Smith bagged top honours at the 17th annual National Television Awards in London on Wednesday night.

Gillan and Smith won the Best Drama Performance Awards in the female and male sections respectively. The event started with the unique presentation of "Let There Be Love" which sawSir Bruce Forsyth join hands with iconic comics Ant and Dec.

"Coronation Street" won the Best Serial Drama Award whereas "Downton Abbey" grabbed the honour for the Best Drama.

The star-studded event was marked by some of the best-dressed red carpet arrivals of the year.
