Nicole Scherzinger is reportedly in talks with Mandela's daughters to perform at his funeral.

X Factor Judge Nicole Scherzinger will reportedly perform at Nelson Mandela's funeral.

According to the Sun, the former Pussycat Doll will take to the stage at the anti-apartheid icon's final send-off later this month.

Mandela's daughters are said have hand-picked Scherzinger and discussed the potential appearance during a recent meeting at the Mandarin Hotel in London.

"During the chat Nicole had with the daughters it was mentioned she should sing at his funeral, or at least be a very prominent guest," an insider allegedly told The Sun on Sunday.

During her acceptance speech for the Best TV personality at the Cosmopolitan Women of the Year Awards, the Boomerang hitmaker recalled the day she sang the anti-apartheid's favourite hymn for him.

''I had the honour of meeting him and I sang him my favourite hymn 'Precious Lord'," she joked. ''But I don't think he liked it as afterwards he said, 'Have you got anything else?'''

Mandela, South Africa's first black president, died at home in Johannesburg, after a long battle with a lung infection. He was 95.

An official memorial ceremony will be held in Johannesberg this Tuesday (10 December 2013) in the 95,000-capacity Soccer City stadium.

He will be laid to rest on Sunday 15 December in his home village of Qunu.

Scherzinger has not commented on the funeral reports.
