Zayn Malik has made an appearance at The Asian Awards.

The One Direction star arrived at the Grosvenor House Hotel in Park Lane, for the event which celebrates the achievements of Asians across the globe in all fields of endeavour.

The singer joined music producer Naughty Boy, Eastenders star Preeya Kalidas and broadcaster Jasmine Dotiwala.

British Asian stars from TV, radio and film turned out to celebrate Asian achievement, among them BBC radio's Nihal, Eastenders actor Nitin Ganatra, music producers Naughty Boy and Rishi Rich, and Bend It Like Beckham director Gurinder Chadha.

The star-studded event also saw a host of celebrity guests in attendance in support of the event including singer Cerys Matthews, Laura Mvula, I'm a Celebrity star Amy Willerton, designers Elizabeth Emmanuel and Karen Millen.

Accepting an award TV host and style guru Gok Wan said he was proud of his heritage and culture.

Jackie Chan was recognized for his work in international cinema. The action star was unable to attend but sent a recorded message while Gurinder Chadha accepted the award on his behalf.

Also among the award recipients were Ahmed Kathrada, one of Nelson Mandela's closest friends and a former Robben Island political prisoner who was presented the prestigious Founders Award by Mandela actor Idris Elba.

Star of the stage musical The Bodyguard Beverley Knight was one of the performers on the night.
