The biggest night in Hollywood is over, and now we've got another year's movies remember with a whole bunch of big trophies. Argo was the big winner of the night, following on from its success at the Golden Globes. It took home Best Picture, pinching it from under the nose of Lincoln, in addition to best adapted screenplay and Film Editing.

But there were plenty of other statues to go around.

Ang Lee won Best Director for Life of Pi, which won three other awards, including Best Cinematography and Best Visual Effects. Daniel Day-Lewis took home Best Actor for Lincoln, which although nominated in twelve categories this year, only managed to take home one other statue for Best Production Design. Day-Lewis is the only person to ever win three Best Actor Oscars. Jennifer Lawrence was the sole winner from Silver Linings Playbook by taking home Best Actress, making her the second youngest woman to win the accolade.

Anne Hathaway won the Best Supporting Actress prize for Les Miserables, which also took Best Sound Mixing, and Christoph Waltz and Quentin Tarentino were both big winners from Django Unchained, for Best Supporting Actor and Best Original Screenplay, respectively.

Continuing her roaring success of the past couple of years, home-grown talent, Adele, can now add an Oscar to her trophy cabinet after taking home Best Original Song for her Bond theme, 'Skyfall'. For a full list of the winners, head to ibtimes.co.uk.
