The team behind the Fast & Furious movies have released a touching video tribute to franchise star Paul Walker following his tragic death.

To honour the late actor, who lost his life in a car crash in Santa Clarita, California, a two-minute tribute compilation of some of his best Fast & Furious moments was posted on YouTube.

Starting with scenes from the first instalment of the franchise, the clips highlights Walker's key moments playing undercover FBI agent turned street racer Brian O'Conner.

Co-stars Vin Diesel, Ludacris, Dwayne Johnson, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson and Michelle Rodriguez all make an appearance.

It wraps up with an image of Walker on a racetrack leaning against a blue sports car with an "In Loving Memory" message.

The video soundtrack is the song Coming Home by P. Diddy featuring vocals from Skylar Grey.

"Paul Walker's family appreciates the outpouring of love and goodwill from his many fans and friends," the accompanying caption reads.

"They have asked, in lieu of flowers or other gifts, that donations please be made to Paul's charity Reach Out Worldwide."

The 40-year-old actor was on his way to a charity event when the Porsche Carrera GT driven by his friend Roger Rodas, lost control and smashed into a tree before bursting into flames. The duo were pronounced dead at the scene.

Universal Pictures has indefinitely halted the production of Fast & Furious 7, which was originally scheduled to hit cinemas in July 2014.
