Seal and Heidi
Seal talks to host Ellen DeGeneres about recent split with model Heidi Klum YouTube

Seal has told a television audience his wife Heidi Klum is still the most beautiful woman in the world, just hours after the couple confirmed they are to separate.

In a planned appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, scheduled before the couple announced their sudden split, the London-born singer opened up about his separation from 38-year-old supermodel Heidi.

The Hollywood sweethearts, who tied the knot in Mexico in May 2005, shocked fans when reports surfaced that they had called time on their seven-year marriage.

Seal told DeGeneres: "I think we were shocked. You go into these things with the greatest intentions when you say 'I do' and you say 'til death do us part.' Those vows hold value. They are not just words.

"She still is the most wonderful woman in the world. Our priority was to remain civil and do this thing with dignity. We still very much love each other.

"I am still wearing my ring. It's pretty much a token of how I feel about this woman. We have eight years. Just because we have decided to separate doesn't necessarily mean you take off your ring and you're no longer connected to that person."

He continued: "We will be connected in many ways for the rest of our lives, through our children and through this tremendous admiration, respect and love we have for each other."

Meanwhile, Seal, who currently promoting his album in the US, also ironically performed Let's Stay Together on the daytime talkshow.

Seal and Klum met in 2004 when the model was pregnant with her daughter Leni, who is now seven they have since had three children together, Henry, six, Johan, five, and Lou, two.
