As US President Donald Trump makes headlines with ridiculous handshakes, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and French President Emmanuel Macron appear to be getting on well - with social media users suggesting a new "bromance" could be on the cards.

The two politicians are attending a G7 summit with leaders of the world's major economies in Sicily, Italy.

Nearly 20% of Canadians are French speakers, and Trudeau and Macron have sent out a positive messages.

"The Franco-Canadian friendship has a new face," Macron said after a meeting with Trudeau at the summit.

"We have to meet the challenges of our generation," Macron wrote on Twitter, alongside a video which showed the two leaders walking together and speaking in French.

Mr Macron continued: "[We are] Together around common values, to respond to issues related to terrorism, climate and economic cooperation."

The internet has been quick to notice the blossoming bromance - which in future, could rival that of Barack Obama and Joe Biden.

Meanwhile, the US President has been making headlines over a series of bizarre handshakes, momentary snubs and aggressive shoves during his visit to Brussels.

Trump was first seen sharing an extraordinarily aggressive handshake with newly elected French President Emmanuel Macron during their first face-to-face meeting, before then being spotted shoving the Prime Minister of Montenegro out the way during a photo call.
