EA have confirmed that DICE's Star Wars: Battlefront will be shown off properly for the first time at the Star Wars Celebration convention in Anaheim, California in April 2015. A reveal was always likely after EA were confirmed as an attending exhibitor at the show, but now there's official confirmation.

A statement on the EA Star Wars website confirmed the news, saying: "It seems like such a long time ago (at an E3 press conference far, far away) since we announced we were working on Star Wars Battlefront. Last year, we promised you would 'See More in Spring 2015'. Spring is coming.

"We're thrilled to share that Star Wars Battlefront will be taking part in Star Wars Celebration next month in Anaheim, CA from April 16 - 19. We could not think of a better or more appropriate place to debut the game officially for the first time than the premier event that celebrates the Star Wars universe and the legions of fans who have fallen in love with it."

DICE's work on the franchise was confirmed with a teaser trailer at E3 2013 and then a behind-the-scenes developer video at last year's event. No gameplay has been seen so far but it seems that will change with the game set for release in time for the cinematic release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens at the end of 2015.

Battlefront isn't the only Star Wars game being worked on at EA. Battlefield Hardline developers Visceral are also at work on what is believed to be a third person action game. In March 2015 it was speculated that the game may take place during the upcoming sequel trilogy, which begins with The Force Awakens in December.
