Gareth Bale
Gareth Bale has shown he is a player worthy of being at Real Madrid, Sergio Ramos says.

Sergio Ramos has claimed that Gareth Bale has surprised the Real Madrid squad with his technical brilliance, but the Spain international has admitted he didn't know much about the winger while he was playing for Tottenham.

Spurs participated in the Champions League for the first and only time in 2010-11, and were knocked out of the competition in the quarter finals by a rampant Real Madrid.

Since Bale has moved to the Spanish capital from Tottenham much has been made of his world record fee but he made the perfect start after scoring on his debut against Villarreal.

Ramos may not have been fully aware of Bale's talent but he has been suitably impressed since the 24 year old arrived and immediately impressed in training.

"Of course Gareth Bale has been the biggest transfer of the summer - and we are glad now that he is with us," he said, according to the Daily Mail. "The truth is because he did not play for a team in England that played in the Champions League - we did not know that much about him.

"We know if he the coach wanted him that strongly he must be a good player - but nobody was prepared for how special he is.

"It has only been a few training sessions we have seen him in - but some of what we see we can't believe. He is so fast, so tricky, and the frightening thing is that he is not even 100 per cent game fit yet."

Bale's positive start to his first season with Real Madrid wasn't necessarily shared by the Spanish press with some claiming that he is yet to show any real brilliance to justify his world-record transfer fee.

But in a recent training session the star was on fire against Ronaldo, going toe to toe with the man who just signed a new deal with Madrid and showing him up on more than one occasion.
