Transformers 5
Paramount had previously revealed Decepticon leader Megatron will return in Transformers: The Last Knight Paramount Pictures

Transformers: The Last Knight filming is on in full swing and fans have already got a glimpse of Bumblebee as the swanky new custom-built 2016 Camaro. But the absence of Optimus Prime from the promotional image teasers has sparked rumours about the importance of the Autobot leader in the current movie's plot.

Warning: Spoilers ahead

Entertainment website Joblo has claimed to know the plot details of the movie and in its report the news outlet had some explosive details about the plot of Transformers 5. If it is to be believed, Bumblebee will lead the Autobots on Earth in the upcoming movie as Optimus has jetted off to outer space in search of the Creators.

Here is what Joblo claims about the plot: After reaching his home planet Cybertron, Optimus Prime discovers that his home planet Cybertron has been destroyed and somewhere he is linked to the destruction. In a bid to understand this and bring the planet back to life, he must find an articraft which is hidden on Earth.

The website also claims that the movie will have the English folklore of King Arthur as the prime story arch. Welsh actor Sir Anthony Hopkins has been roped in for the highly-anticipated movie and it is rumoured that he will be an important link in the Autobots' search for the articraft linked to King Arthur.

According to the Transformers universe, the robots have been visiting Earth since time unknown and the possibility of hiding a sword in the late 5th and early 6th centuries AD during the legendary British leader's era is possible.

As of now, the Autobots are residing on Earth under the guidance of the beloved Bumblebee and are protecting Cade Yeager and his family from the Deceptions in the absence of Optimus. The Creators, who were mysterious till now, are expected to appear in the upcoming movie and if the website is to be believed, "a Transformer with an English accent named Cogman, whose alt-mode is an Astin Martin" will appear in the movie.

The plot spoiler by the website appears worthy since previously chief writer Akiva Goldsman had teased going back to the Transformers mythology in order to craft the script.

"We will look at the toys, the TV shows, the merchandise, everything that has been generated by Hasbro, from popular to forgotten iterations, and establish a mythological time line. It has been designed with a lot of visual help, toys, robots, sketches and writers and artists. After that super saturation, the writers will figure out not one, but numerous films that will extend the universe," he told Deadline in July 2015.

Mark Wahlberg will return to reprise his character Cade Yeager in the Michael Bay-directed movie, which is expected to premiere in 2017.
