New details about the plot of Transformers 5 have been teased by Akiva Goldsman and his team of writers who are brainstorming to come up with the best storyline for Optimus Prime and his band of autobots.

Goldsman has hinted that the movie may explore a beast war plot. "If one of the writers discovers an affinity for Beast Wars, they can drive forward on treatments that will have been fleshed out by the whole room," head of the Transformers writers room told Deadline.

He also teased that the upcoming movie will explore the transformers myth through toys, figures and old sketches from Hasbro.

"We will look at the toys, the TV shows, the merchandise, everything that has been generated by Hasbro, from popular to forgotten iterations, and establish a mythological time line. It has been designed with a lot of visual help, toys, robots, sketches and writers and artists. After that super saturation, the writers will figure out not one, but numerous films that will extend the universe."

In the previous movie, Optimus Prime goes into outer space to meet his Creators in order to settle scores with them while his gang of autobots remain on earth.

There are rumours that Bumble Bee and the rest of his band of good robots will hold the fort on earth and fight the decepticons in order to safeguard humans.

Previously, there were speculations that Ultra Magnus, Red Alert, and Override will join the autobots while Cyclonus, Scourge, and Blitzwing will form an alliance with Galvatron after which the beast war will begin.

Deadline also confirmed that Michael Bay will return to helm the sequel to Age Of Extinction. Transformers 5 is scheduled to be released in 2016.
