Vampire Diaries season 7 midseason premiere will air on 29 JanuaryCW

The Vampire Diaries season 7 midseason premiere synopsis is out and it hints at some looming threat over Damon's life. But as usual his loyal friend Bonnie will try to save him. The show will return with the rest of the episodes and reveal the future of Stefan and Caroline, who are having a tough time as the latter is pregnant with Alaric's unborn twins from Jo.

Warning: Spoilers ahead

The show is bringing every twist possible to make the plot line interesting for fans, especially after the exit of Nina Dobrev, who played Elena. To fill her gap, show producers introduced multiple new characters infamously known as the heretics, Lily's extended family.

In the previous episode, the Salvatore brothers decide to avenge Lily's death but their attack plan on Julian backfires when Damon gets trapped inside the Phoenix stone. This will prompt the elder Salvatore brother to relive some of his gruelling past memories.

Executive producer Caroline Dries told EW the premiere episode is Damon-centric. "The episode plunges the audience head first into a not-so-typical Damon mess. It's a grueling, frustrating, at times even a little hilarious examination of one of our favorite and most damaged characters. Turns out that in the murk of Damon Salvatore's psyche, redemption isn't easy to find," she told.

Here is the full synopsis of the premiere episode titled Hell is Other People:

After finding himself on the wrong end of Julian's plan to avenge Lily's death, Damon awakens to find himself trapped inside the Phoenix stone, tormented by a traumatic experience from his time in the Civil War and forced to face his darkest demon in order to get out. On the outside, Bonnie is in a race against the clock to get Damon out before the effects of the Phoenix stone take over and leave him changed forever.

Vampire Diaries season 7 midseason premiere will air on 29 January on CW network.
