British boy band Westlife performed their last ever concert together, at Croke Park in Dublin, bringing down the curtain on 14 years of partnership that resulted in tracks like Flying Without Wings, You Raise Me Up and World of Our Own. Nicky Byrne, Kian Egan, Shane Filan and Mark Feehily will not entice crowds again with their boyish charms and music. Nevertheless, they will continue to live in 26 UK Top 10 hits, 14 UK Number One Singles and seven chart-topping albums, which saw them sell over 44 million records worldwide.

The final concert was performed in front of a crowd of 80,000 and Egan announced the weekend was "the biggest weekend in Westlife's life" and Ireland made each of them feel very special. The concert was also all about family, as the band members brought their parents and children on stage, while singing Queen of My Heart.

There could be a silver lining for Westlife fans though. The farewell concert aside, Filan is planning a solo music career. The singer has recently filed for bankruptcy but according to manager Louis Walsh, the 32 year old kept the £18mn collapse of his property firm a secret for as long as possible so it would not interfere with tour preparations.

"He didn't want to drag the boys down. Last night Shane told me, 'All I want to do is just go on with it. Pick up the pieces, go out on a high with Westlife, and start again'. Shane is going to have a massive career after Westlife. He's going to have a great solo career and make millions. He'll start all over again and remake the riches in no time at all. He had no money when he started off before Westlife, and now he'll make it all back when he becomes a massive star," Walsh said.

The band decided to split in October, as they had "run out of steam and lost the love for what they are doing".

Feehily said it was a collective decision and a single person could not be blamed, while Byrne said he felt the collective had lost their ambition. Filan added that whether it was success or failure, all band members shared equally in their experiences.
