The former X Factor contestant is having a baby with his 20-year-old girlfriend. Love It!

Just as the new series of X Factor hits our screens, former star Wagner Carrilho has announced that he is expecting a child with his 20-year-old girlfriend, Lydia Longville.

The 56-year-old Brazilian-born singer, who found fame on the 2010 series of the ITV singing contest, told Love It! magazine: "I can't wait to be a dad again.

"Chances are, I have [only] 20 or 30 years left, but there's nothing I can do about it.

"If I didn't do karate, I may as well step into a coffin now."

Wagner, who has an estranged five-year-old son with a previous partner, met Longville in 2010, after he was eliminated from the show.

Longville said: "He was better-looking in person, and had lovely eyes. I can even remember that he was wearing a black shirt with red roses on it, and a burgundy jacket."

The couple insisted that even though the age gap between them had raised eyebrows, they were happy.

Wagner said: "If people say I'm a cradlesnatcher, they're short-sighted. I don't feel 56.

"We love each other very much and can't wait to start a family."

He said there were no plans to get married though.

The proud father-to-be insisted: "I've committed this marriage crime twice and I've done my time."

"A wedding is like a holiday to me - you do it when you have time and money," he added.

Opening up about their decision to start a family, Wagner commented:

"We'd stopped using contraception so it was inevitable, because she's young and fertile.

"I'm like a vampire - I only like young blood."

The new series is on ITV1/ITV1 HD.
