Billy Graham has issued a fresh prediction of doom for humanity as he draws near to his 95th birthday.

Graham showed the evangelical flame still burned brightly within him by claiming that the time was ripe for the second coming of God on Earth. In the Bible this is called the Rapture - but it spells Armageddon for human civilisation.

Likening himself to Noah in the Old Testament, Graham proclaimed there were warning signs in the Bible that were obvious. Those signs have begun to converge, with only one outcome possible.

The influential Bible Belt preacher to whom White House candidates flock when they are seeking votes at elections, said he was "sounding the alarm" to humanity. "Repent or die," was his message.

"God keeps his promises, and this is why we can be sure that the return of Christ is near," Graham proclaimed. "Scripture tells us that there will be signs pointing toward the return of the Lord. I believe all these signs are evident today.

"There's a great deal to say in the Bible about the signs we're to watch for and when these signs all converge at one place we can be sure that we're close to the end of the age. And those signs, in my judgment, are converging now for the first time since Jesus made those predictions."

The latest portent of doom from Graham forms part of an event entitled 'My Hope' - a series of video sermons and testimonies by America's most famous veteran of the God business.

A book released in conjunction with the project suggests that Graham senses the end could be nigh for him, as well. His latest volume, The Reason for my Hope, is touted as what could be his final book.
