Monaco's Charlotte Casiraghi competed in the 1.25m show jumping competition at the 2012 Global Champions Tour (GCT) of Monaco on Thursday. Charlotte looked chic and sporty in her white jodhpurs and knee-high leather boots as she competed with her horse Costa Virgio in the Monte Carlo leg of the GCT, which runs till Saturday.

Charlotte finished 22 of over 40 riders. Cassio Rivetti, riding in Ukrainian colours, won the Prix Massimo Dutti on the first day of the Global Champions Tour. Rivetti jumped clear in both phases and finished with a time of 24.52s. Britain's Scott Brash came second with a time of 24.83s on Bon Ami. American rider Laura Kraut was third with 25.37 riding Teirra and Michael Whitaker for Great Britain was fourth on Viking in 25.62, GCT organisers said in a statement.

Charlotte Casiraghi, the daughter of Princess Caroline of Hanover, was born into the royal family of Monaco and is also the granddaughter of former American actress Grace Kelly, who became the Princess of Monaco (more popularly known as Princess Grace) after marrying Rainier III, Prince of Monaco in April 1956.

The 25-year-old Charlotte was featured on the cover page of the September issue of French Vogue last year, an achievement that keeps her ahead of her royal rivals, including Catherine the Duchess of Cambridge or Kate Middleton. More recently, luxury brand Gucci announced in March that Charlotte Casiraghi, who is a long-time client, would be featured in a series of images for the brand's Forever Now campaign. We need hardly add the French royal is considered a fashion icon even though she has chosen to pursue a career as an equestrian show jumper.
