Overview

Swiss Indoors is Federer's home tournament and the former world number one holds the record for winning the tournament for the highest number of times. He has won it on six occasions and made it to the finals 11 times, beating Stefan Edberg's previous best of five final appearances.

Federer is the defending champion and he will be hoping to extend his record by winning it for the seventh time in his career. The 34-year-old is one win from making it to the 12th final and two wins away from lifting the crown in front of his home fans.

In the quarter-final clash, the Swiss tennis star defeated David Goffin. After winning the first set, Federer lost the second and bounced back to clinch the final set and the match. The score was 6-3, 3-6, 6-1.

Meanwhile, Sock defeated his compatriot Donald Young in the last eight of the Swiss Indoors. He lost the opening set and then bounced back to win the next two sets to seal the match. The final score was 5-7, 6-4, 6-2.

A victory for either of these two will see them face Rafael Nadal or Richard Gasquet. The latter two will be in action earlier in the day when the two face each other in the other semi-final clash.
