Werewolf spotted in UK's Bridlington

Mermaids off the coast, the Loch Ness Monster in the Highlands and now, a werewolf in Bridlington? Another eye-catching claim has emerged, this time from the dense woodland of Danes Dyke, where a paranormal researcher and author Philip Kinsella says he captured a picture of a towering, human-like figure with no clear explanation.

The image, taken in broad daylight, shows what appears to be an 8-foot shadowy figure emerging from the ridge, fueling speculation, scepticism and everything in between. 'There was nothing there at all when I took it. That's what shocked me,' Philip said.

So, is this the latest entry in Britain's long list of cryptid legends, or just a trick of light and imagination? While some online commentators suggested the figure might be a person in a bulky jacket and white gloves, Philip who was with his twin brother Ronald and fellow investigator Paul Sinclair was quick to dismiss the idea. 'I was like, 'you're joking, right?' The figure's huge... There's something just... not right.'

Woods of Danes Dyke, 'A Strange Area'

The woods of Danes Dyke has long been associated with strange tales and paranormal folklore, but this sighting adds a new twist. Philip explained that he and his brother had been taken to the area specifically because of its history of bizarre reports. 'Paul told us about legends and recent sightings. Later, I was scrolling through my pictures when this image just stood out. I blew it up and immediately rang him.'

The moment, Philip says, chilled him to the bone. 'My brother Ronald and I are very grounded in our research. But I went cold when I saw it. What on earth is that?'

He described the woodland itself as 'a strange area... There's just something weird about it,' adding that he wouldn't want to linger there after dark.

Despite the supernatural overtones, Philip avoids jumping to conclusions. 'We're not saying it's a werewolf. We're saying something is there.'

Similarities With a 2024 Cannock Chase Encounter

This is not the first time such claims have surfaced in Britain. In 2024, a retired couple reported a terrifying encounter on July 18 during an evening walk through Cannock Chase in Staffordshire, an area widely regarded as one of the UK's most paranormally active locations.

According to reports, the pair was walking near the Pye Green water tower when a foul smell alerted them to something unusual. As they approached the German Military Cemetery, they noticed movement among the gravestones.

In legends, a werewolf is a human who can transform into a wolf or a wolf-human hybrid.

'It must have been eight feet tall, and it was incredibly broad,' the man told investigators. 'The creature was covered in hair like a giant wolf or something, but it was standing upright and sprinting around.'

After shouting out in shock, he said the creature turned to face them. 'It locked its eyes on us. They were big and yellow... it had huge teeth, like nothing we'd ever seen before.' What followed was a loud, piercing howl, before the figure bolted and leapt over a cemetery fence.

The man's wife has reportedly refused to speak about the incident since.

An Expert's Take on The Sightings

Lee Brickley, a writer and seasoned paranormal researcher, visited the couple's home in Heath Hayes shortly after the incident. While the wife chose not to participate, the husband described the event in vivid detail.

'The gentleman recounted the whole story to me, his hands were shaking as he told me detail after detail,' Lee said. 'His face went almost ashen.'

He added, 'While there may be no logical explanation for such occurrences, the sheer number of witnesses surely prove there really is something in the woods.'

Meanwhile, Philip, who lives in Kempston, Bedfordshire, says he has no intention of trying to convince doubters. 'I know people think I'm bonkers. But I don't care. I deal with people who have open minds,' he said. 'This figure manifested like a ghost, but with physical presence. I don't know what it is but I know it's weird.'
