Salma Hayek is on a mission to prove that age is just a number by sharing photos of her 50-year-old self showing off her fantastic physique. The actress, who is a regular on lists of the world's most beautiful women, posted an image of herself on Instagram that would probably put many women half her age to shame.

In the post, Hayek posed in a tiny rust-coloured bikini as she bathed under an outdoor shower, surrounded by lush greenery. "Water, the most beautiful delicious and precious necessity of humans," she captioned the 11 August image.

Her pose – arms outstretched above her head — worked to show off her toned arms, back and abdomen.

Fans of the actress were quick to praise her curves and Hayek herself recently revealed that she loves her type of figure. "I love the word 'curvy.' It's artistic. A straight line can be boring. You have to think about energy, the beauty of sound. Sound doesn't travel in lines – it oscillates," she told The Edit after confessing that she sometimes wished a few of those curves could "go in instead of out in some places".

Despite being praised for her figure, the Desperado star feels that she was born in the wrong era – especially when it comes to fashion. "With [big] boobs, it's impossible to find the right thing. I'm sure the '50s or '70s would have suited me," she said.

The Frida actress is gearing for the release of her latest film opposite Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L Jackson — The Hitman's Bodyguard, which releases in the UK on 17 August and in the US on 18 August.
