The stars came out in their best threads at they graced the red carpet of the 66th annual BAFTA Film Awards held at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden.

However, there were a few fashion fails too. Singer-songwriter Paloma Faith hit the event in a Nicholas Oakwell silvery grey gown from the Spring 2012 Couture collection. Her hair style was the main attraction - a twisted and turning riff on a beehive but was not at all impressive. She completed the look accessorising with vintage-looking diamond hair jewellery.

Alice Eve donned a skin-fit Alessandra Rich Spring 2013 gown, featuring flame-like detailing at the top. Though she kept her make-up simple and styled her hair into a bouffant backcombed hairdo, it failed to make a statement.

Sarah Jessica Parker ditched the gowns and went for black velvet Elie Saab jumpsuit and completed the look with smokey eyes and a necklace.

At the event, Ben Affleck's Argo won awards for Best Film and Best Director categories. Anne Hathaway won best supporting actress for her role in Les Miserables.

This year, director Alan Parker received BAFTA Fellowship- the academy's highest honour.
