As Christians celebrated Easter across the world, royals from Britain and Spain stepped out to take part in the celebrations and attend the Easter services.

In the UK, Queen Elizabeth II accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh, Princess Eugenie, Princess Annie, Sophie, the Countess of Wessex and her daughter Lady Louise attended the Easter Matins Service at Windsor, England on 8 April 8, 2012.

The Telegraph reported that the Queen, dressed in a pastel Stewart Parvin silk dress, a lilac crepe coat and a matching hat by Philip Somerville, greeted children and sang hymns at the traditional service.

Princess Eugenie, on the other hand, was dressed in a navy dress with crème coat and a matching navy hat. Notably absent for the services were the royal couple Prince William and Kate Middleton who are currently enjoying a much-needed holiday in the renowned Trois Vallees ski resort.

The young royals are being accompanied by Kate's family including her mother Carole Middleton, father Michael Middleton, James Middleton, sister Pippa Middleton and her close friend Earl Percy. William and Kate spent six weeks apart as the Prince was flying a helicopter for the RAF in the Falklands. They even missed their first Valentine's Day as a married couple. So, after William's return, the couple took off for their ski holidays to the slopes.

The service was conducted by the Dean of Windsor, the Right Rev David Conner and included the National Anthem and the hymn Thine Be The Glory.

Following the services, Queen Elizabeth was greeted outside the chapel by well-wishers and presented with flowers.

Elsewhere, members of the Spain royal family including Princess Letizia, Crown Prince Felipe, King Juan Carlos, his granddaughter Infanta Sofia, Queen Sofia, her granddaughter Infanta Leonor and Infanta Elena attended an Easter mass at the cathedral in Palma de Mallorca on 8 April, 2012.

Princess Letizia looked stunning dressed in a floral print blouse, pants, a camel jacket and a beige clutch. Felipe went for a gray suit and the Infantas looked adorable in dresses, cardigans, white socks and Mary Janes.
