Donald Trump has issued two tweets, seemingly lashing out at the recent chaos that has affected Washington and the White House.

In his first tweet, the US president said: "With all of the illegal acts that took place in the Clinton campaign & Obama Administration, there was never a special councel appointed!" Social media pointed that he had spelled 'councel' with a 'c' instead of an 's'.

In a second tweet issued minutes later, he said: "This is the single greatest witch hunt of a politician in American history!"

It comes after Trump decided to fire FBI Director James Comey while the bureau investigated his campaign's alleged ties to Russia.

It later emerged Trump had told the Russians classified information about military operations involving Isis.

In another twist to the tale, it was then reported that Trump had allegedly asked Comey, in February, to stop his investigation of former national security adviser Michael Flynn.

On Wednesday 17 May, Russian President Vladimir Putin offered to provide a transcript of the meeting between Lavrov and Trump.

It then came out that Trump's transition team was told weeks before his inauguration that Michael Flynn was under federal investigation for secretly working as a paid lobbyist for the Turkish government.

And in another turn, it was revealed that the Justice Department appoints former FBI director Robert Mueller in Russian interference investigation.
